James Aitken: The Tough Guy/Gal Challenge

We sent our Brand Ambassador James along to Tough Guy/Gal in Wellington!
Here's what he had to say about the awesome experience he had.
If I was to describe the Wellington Tough Guy/Gal event in one word it would be ‘electrifying’…literally in some spots but that will be explained later in the blog!
When Kaiser Baas first approached me regarding capturing this event, I thought this could be epic. As a keen outdoor enthusiast and fitness type of guy, I thought what better way to get stuck in and film the event while I’m at it?
As the 25th May rolled around and Sounds air flight 282 departed for Wellington, I was greeted with probably the best sunrise I’ve seen all year. Once we touched down, I stepped out into that cold crisp Wellington breeze.

Luckily there was a good mate of mine to kindly be my Uber for the day and take me to the venue at Wainui camp. As we went through the entrance into the camp, the scene was set and within an hour there were over a thousand competitors ready to take on what the event organisers described as the most challenging course on their calendar.
11 am came and saw the first wave letting the ‘serious’ 12km competitors go to indulge in the mud! A few moments later and it was my turn to tackle the course! With the KB X500 on my chest and X400 on my head, I was able to capture a range of content from running through dense bush to running down streams, crawling under barb wire and electric fences. This course had it all, right down to a Tough Guy/Gals version of Mt Everest - this hill was so steep they had ropes to assist you climbing up!
That was hands down the hardest part of the course for me but the support and generosity of fellow competitors were second to none. Everyone had each other’s back which made this event that much more enjoyable.
