The Top 8 Family-Friendly Bike Trails
Whether you have kids or not, we've rounded up some of the best bike trails in New Zealand and Australia that will get you up and into the great outdoors.
Adventures like these are worth capturing. Mount your Kaiser Baas camera to the handlebars, hit record and when you upload it online, don't forget to tag us (@KaiserBaas #KBDiscover #CaptureAdventure) so we can feature you on our social channels!
Let's get into it!

1. The Otago Central Rail Trail, Otago, New Zealand
Recently voted as the best cycle trail in New Zealand (for the second year in a row), this trail had to secure our number one spot. With plenty of places to stop along the way and take in the scenery, this is the ultimate adventure-holiday destination. If you're travelling with kids (or just want to take your time and relax), we recommend the 5-day excursion where you'll average about 2.5 - 4 hours of cycling per day.

2. Encounter Bikeway,
Fleurieu Peninsula, South Australia

At 31km, this track is easy riding, but lengthy. While you have the option to stop off at any of the heritage towns along the way, you won’t want to when you get to enjoy stunning views of the Fleurieu Peninsula.

3. Whakarewarewa Forest trail, Rotorua, New Zealand
The Whakarewarewa Forest trail in Rotorua is one of the oldest mountain bike networks in the country that runs through an incredible redwood forest. The trails are divided into riding areas, so you can select the track that caters to your level, whether you’re travelling with family or chasing the thrill of extreme action. Don't forget to soak your muscles in one the many hot pools in Rotorua after your ride.

4. Tongariro River Trail, Turangi, New Zealand
Trailing along the banks of the magnificent Tongariro River, this mostly flat trail is great for all, including children. With multiple entry points, you have the option of selecting how long you want to ride for - great for those looking for a quick adventure.
If you’re a fly fishing fan, this is also a great place to take part in or simply observe.

5.
The Riesling Trail, Clare Valley, Australia

A part of one of Australia’s most epic bike trails, the Mawson Trail, this particular Riesling track runs through farmland, vineyards and wooded areas. With multiple loops to choose from, you can take it easy and take in the views.

6. Te Ara Kākāriki bike trail, Raglan, New Zealand
Raglan is a must-visit destination for surfers and those that enjoy the chill vibes a small beach town brings. In between surf sessions, get out and about on the Raglan Track which is great for all levels. We're picking this one for the epic west coast beach views and range of activities you can do here beyond cycling.

7. Murray to the Mountains Rail Trail, Victoria, Australia

For those that prefer sealed surfaces, the Murray track is for you. Located in Northern Victoria, the track has three trails available, where you can select your length (trails range from 9km up to 97km). A big bonus is a nearby winery where you can relax after a day of adventuring.

8. Twizel River Trail, Twizel, New Zealand
A grade 2 trail, this track is located in one of New Zealand’s most beautiful locations. This trail is better suited for children over the age of 7. With plenty of places to stop and have a picnic and swim, this quickly becomes one of our favourites for a summer adventure.

We're spoilt for choices when it comes to bike trails, so the hardest part will be choosing one. Don't forget to check out our range of action cameras you can take with you before you embark on your adventure.
