My specifications for a dash-cam were pretty extensive. If I was going to shell out my hard-earnt cash for one, it better do all I want, plus more.
I lucked onto the Kaiser Baas R50 by sheer chance as it was kinda hidden down low in the glass cabinet. Once I took a look at the specs, and compared prices to the others and what they offered, it was a no-brainer. Even the cool look of the R50 won me, hands down. Kinda like an upside-down minion, but not painted yellow.
Once home, I couldn't wait to install it. The packaging had a ton of goodies. Temporary installation or permanent, you choose, as it comes with both types of windscreen mounts, suction cup and stick-on. The power/GPS cable caters for even the largest vehicle, I wanted a permanent install and planned on tucking the cabling under the ceiling hoodlining and down inside the pillars, under the dash, to a slightly modified USB cigarette lighter adaptor, same as the one that comes with the R50.
I decided to test it before installing it. To have this tiny little minion, I'll call him Kevin, start chiming and speaking to me, confirming that the date and time was now updated. this, to me, indicated that the GPS was functioning as it should. I then downloaded the KB Drive app and connected via Wifi in a matter of seconds. I could then see what the Dash-cam was seeing so aligning it wouldn't be a problem.
Installation was a breeze, taking a little over an hour due to the extra "Integration of wiring" I wanted to do. The best place to mount the Dash-cam on the windscreen is behind the mirror on the black checkered (Frit) section as it is probably the best place to secure the adhesive mount so it wont fall off over time. I also put the GPS module on the opposite side, but still on the Frit, and kept the two separated as best as possible.
So far, I am extremely happy with the R50 Dash-cam. Unobtrusive, provides audible feedback when turning on or off. So very happy with my choice.
I bought two R50 dash cam for my car here and overseas. Its easy to install and set up the app. Wide view and clear video recordings and the other cool features is the hand gestures when taking photo. Nice!!!
