Glossary of terms
- LCD - Liquid-Crystal Display. A digital display, made of a liquid crystal sandwiched between layers of glass or plastic. When electric current passes through it it becomes opaque.
- CF - CompactFlash. A mass storage device used in portable electronic devices, including Digital Cameras.
- Pixel - short for pixel element. The smallest single component of an image. Images displayed on a digital photo frame or computer monitor is made of thousands of pixels. For example. 800 pixels wide by 600 pixels high = 480,000 pixels.
- Aspect Ratio - an image width divided by height. 4:3 Digital photo frames allow you to see your digital photo in its correct aspect ratio. Keep in mind that your digital camera probably doesn't shoot in 16:9 aspect ratio, so 16:9 frames will probably leave your photo displayed with black bars down each side, or stretch your photo in one dimension to remove the black bars.
- DAB+ - Digital Audio Broadcasting is a new technology for broadcasting radio in digital. Digital Radio is now available in Australia. Coverage areas can be found on www.digitalradioplus.com.au
